BECOMING A HEALING PRACTITIONER

Many of us are increasingly drawn to healing. As we navigate our turbulent and challenging world, the idea of being able to help ourselves and other people around us in a practical way is very appealing.

LEAVES INSTITUTE DIPLOMA OVERVIEW

  • There is a big difference between learning how to practice healing for yourself and your family and friends and learning how to become a professional healer (where you charge for your services). Leaves Institute’s Healing Diploma is designed to support you to become a professional healing practitioner if you choose to do so. It is an in-depth, two-year programme that is very different to the many basic short courses that are available.

  • The diploma is accredited by the Complementary Medical Association and endorsed by the Quality Licence Scheme. This means that there is rigour in both the content and delivery, which is essential in order to achieve practitioner status. It is also aligned to National Occupational Standards for the Healing profession and to the Learning Outcomes set out by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

WHAT THE DIPLOMA COVERS

Our founder, Yumiko Assakura, who created the Leaves Institute Healing Diploma, has spent many years as both a healing practitioner and a psychotherapist. She has used her own understanding of the skills and qualities needed to work as a professional healer to devise a rigorous programme of study.

  • The Leaves Institute method is a unique approach called Jikochiyu or self-healing. As the name suggests, each client is actively involved in their own healing process, therefore, an important part of the healer’s role is to educate people to take responsibility for their own healing going forward. The aim is to empower clients to become aware of their own needs (for example, to understand pain signals in their body) and to know how to heal themselves rather than needing to depend on a healer. As students learn the Jikochiyu process they will benefit from their own self-healing. The first year of study often brings about big shifts for individuals as they embark on a journey of personal discovery and transition.

  • Unlike a plumber or electrician, the results of a healing session may not be immediately obvious or measurable. This is true for many different therapeutic approaches, of course. The Leaves Institute Healing Diploma teaches a form of healing (Jikochiyu) that is designed to produce discernible improvements. If you are planning to charge for your healing services (and even if you are not!), it is important to feel confident that you can produce positive results for your clients. The robust nature of our healing approach, the in-depth teaching and the focus on results are all designed to build our students’ confidence.

  • This is a big area for healers and we spend a lot of time on the topic. We explore personal and professional responsibilities, healing principles and mindset, the role of the healer and the importance of maintaining healthy boundaries.

  • An important difference between the healing we teach at Leaves Institute and other types of healing is that we don’t simply teach a standard set of principles to be applied with all clients. Our students receive knowledge and skills but they also receive a powerful initiation as a healer. During the Diploma you will be encouraged to use your own initiative and to channel your own innate healing abilities. This means that, while the core approach may be the same, each Jikochiyu healer will practice in a different way that is aligned to their own unique skills and abilities. This helps our healers to become confident and to feel passionate about the work they do as it comes from a deep level inside and, therefore, feels right. We want all our students to make Jikochiyu healing their own so they can give it with love and focus.

  • When you are working as a healer, it is important to protect your own energy field and mind so you are not impacted by the energies of others. Leaves Institute teaches the Mamoru method which is essential to keeping  yourself well when practising as a healer.
